We extend a warm welcome to Patrick Lammers who joins us today as Group Chief Executive. Patrick, who has a technical background, comes to us from being Managing Director of Dureal, a subsidiary of Univar NV ("Univar"), a chemicals supplier. Dureal was created by Univar in response to the tightening automotive emissions requirements in Europe and the USA. Prior to this, Patrick spent 14 years at the Shell Group ("Shell") in a range of engineering and commercial management roles. Latterly, with Shell International Oil Products, he was Regional Commercial Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Shell Car Care International. Although primarily involved in the worldwide automotive industry, Patrick has been active in the commercialisation of new products in a series of other markets and has developed strategic client relationships on a global basis. During his time at Shell and Univar, he has gained significant experience in both the creation and development of growth businesses like Dyson, as well as managing a number of difficult turnaround situations. Patrick, aged 43, is a multi-lingual Dutch national with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He is also a member of the US Automotive Manufacturers Association. Following his appointment, Patrick will be re-locating to the UK and be based at the Group's head office in Sheffield. Patrick Lammers said this morning "I am excited to be joining this company with such a long history, and with so much potential for the future.
